How can wooden flooring be refurbished?
Hardwood flooring can be restored through a process called wooden floor sanding, or the floor can be replaced altogether. Wooden floor sanding involves using machinery to smooth out any imperfections in the wood, before recoating the surface with the desired finish and varnish. Your flooring can be restored through sanding as long as it is solid or engineered hardwood flooring – this could be oak, pine, teak, maple or beech. If you choose to have new hardwood flooring installed, there are more options for customisation available.
How long does wooden floor sanding take?
At Ryans, our wooden floor sanding process takes just three days from start to finish. In those three days, we can bring your wooden flooring back to its former glory, removing all damages and wear from years of use. Keep reading to find out more about our 3-day floor sanding process.
On the first day, our professional restoration team will inspect the flooring, before starting to sand the wood with specialist equipment. Once this step is complete, a surface coating will be applied to dry overnight.
Returning on day two, we will assess how the surface coating has absorbed into the wood, as well as ensure that any stubborn areas are smoothed out. A coat of wood varnish is then applied. This varnish could be matte, natural, or glossy, depending on your personal preference.
On our final day, the overall finish of the floor will be examined. This is to ensure the surface coatings have been absorbed. A final coat of varnish is applied to enhance the natural grain of the wood, leaving it looking as good as new. Once the floor is dry, the process is complete!
The pricing of this process varies depending on the size of the room, as well as the number of rooms needing work. For an average room (around 13 square metres), the price will be around £900. The price then scales with the size of the room to between £1,500 and £2,000.
