Floor Sanding in Chard
Half an hour from our Wellington workshop, Chard brings us wide Georgian pine on Fore Street and High Street and tightly laid boards in the mill terraces at Boden and Old Town, most of it carpeted over rather than worn out. Our wood floor sanding service covers the town plus Combe St Nicholas, Tatworth, Winsham, Donyatt, Broadway and Chaffcombe.
We are a family firm with over 45 years of experience: nails and staples dealt with, boards sanded through the grits, finish applied, and the whole job set out in a fixed written quotation before anything starts.
Decades under carpet leave their own preparation work before sanding can start. Rubber and foam underlays of a certain age perish into a crumbly layer that welds itself to the boards, and older fitted carpets were often laid over bitumen-backed felt that smears if attacked with a coarse belt straight away. We scrape and lift these residues first, along with every staple the fitters left behind, because abrasive is for timber, not for grinding rubber into the grain where it will show through the finish as grey shadows.
