Retail and Shop Floor Sanding

Usually not. Most retail work is done overnight, on a closed day or before opening, using fast-cure sealers so the floor is walkable within hours. Where a shop cannot close at all we phase the work in halves behind a signed barrier.

With the fast-cure sealers we use on shop floors, generally the next morning for light foot traffic. Heavy fixtures and rails should wait a little longer and we will tell you exactly how long.

A single sales floor of moderate size is often sanded and sealed overnight. Larger units and showrooms are two to four nights. We give firm dates at survey rather than vague windows.

A two-pack water-based commercial lacquer in most cases. It is far harder than anything domestic, cures fast, does not yellow and is low in solvents so the smell has gone before you open.

Grit rather than footfall. Sand, salt and stone dust walked in from the pavement act as an abrasive along the entry route. A proper entrance matting system is the single best defence.

Yes, and a refit is the ideal time. Get us in once the old fixtures are out and before the new ones go in. Screw holes, adhesive and the ghost lines of removed units all come out in the sanding.

We take it seriously, particularly for salons, cafes and anywhere with regular liquid on the floor. We will specify for grip rather than leaving you with a glassy surface somebody skids on.

Our machines run industrial extraction which captures the great majority of dust at source. In a shop full of stock that is the difference between opening in the morning and cleaning merchandise for hours.
