Floor Sanding in Milverton
With our workshop at Wellington just ten minutes away, Milverton is the closest village we serve, and every part of our wood floor sanding service is available here, from a single sitting room to a whole house. We also cover Preston Bowyer, Langford Budville, Halse, Fitzhead and Runnington.
The Georgian houses along Fore Street hold wide pine boards that are often thinner than they look after two centuries of wear, so we measure the timber above the tongue before quoting and use a light sanding sequence that removes finish rather than history. It is careful, unhurried work from a family firm with more than 45 years’ experience.
The first hour on any job is spent on the knees, not the machines. We work across the room punching every nail head a couple of millimetres below the surface, lifting old carpet staples and gripper, and marking any board that moves underfoot. Miss a single nail and it will tear the first abrasive belt and leave a bright ring in the timber, so this stage is never skipped however sound the floor looks.
From there the sanding itself is a progression: a coarse cut to take off the old finish, a medium cut to remove the marks the coarse belt left, and fine cuts to close the grain ready for sealing. Each pass runs along the boards rather than across them, and the perimeter is brought to the same standard with the edging machine before the corners are finished by hand.
