When Installation Beats Restoration — and When It Does Not
We are restorers first, which makes us unusually honest installers: if your existing floor can be saved, we will tell you, because restoration is nearly always cheaper and old timber is nearly always better. But some floors are genuinely finished — woodworm through the joists, boards sanded to the tongue by decades of hire machines, rot past the point of piecing in — and some rooms never had a timber floor and deserve one.
That is where wooden floor installation comes in: new floors, supplied and fitted, chosen for the building rather than the brochure. Because we spend our lives with old floors, we fit new ones to the same standard — acclimatised properly, fixed properly, finished properly — rather than the rushed lay-and-leave that keeps our repair diary busy.
