Floor Sanding in Chippenham
Our floor sanding service covers Chippenham and every village around it, on every kind of timber floor: Victorian pine boards, oak strip, elm cottage floors, parquet and engineered wood. Work follows the same disciplined sequence every time — assessment and moisture readings first, repairs second, then staged sanding from coarse to fine grits until the surface is flat, clean and ready for its finish. The machines run sealed dust extraction that captures the overwhelming majority of dust at source, so families stay in the house and furniture stays in the room next door. The result is specified in writing before we start: the grits, the finish, the timescale and a fixed quotation.
“Flat, clean and ready” is checked, not assumed. Before any finish is opened, the floor is inspected under raking light — a lamp held low across the surface, which exposes scratch patterns, edger swirls and missed patches that overhead light hides completely. Anything the light finds gets another fine pass. It is a five-minute discipline that separates floors which look superb for a fortnight from floors which look superb in every summer evening’s low sun for the next decade, because side light across a sitting-room floor is exactly how owners see their own boards.
The machining that leads up to that check runs by the book: nails and screws sunk first, the belt machine working along the grain through a stepped grit sequence, the edger carrying the borders, hand tools in the corners, and a full vacuum between grades so each finer paper meets clean timber.
