Floor Sanding Throughout Surrey
Ryan’s Restoration provides wood floor sanding across the whole of Surrey: Guildford, Woking, Farnham, Godalming, Epsom, Reigate, Redhill, Dorking, Esher, Weybridge, Camberley, Leatherhead, Cranleigh, Haslemere, Oxted, Caterham and the villages between.
The county’s stock of Victorian villas, Georgian town houses and solid interwar homes gives us everything from wide pine boards to oak strip and herringbone, and after 45-plus years as a family firm we have sanded all of it. On larger properties we survey room by room, because halls take the wear while bedrooms often need only a light refresh — and the fixed written quotation reflects that honestly.
Different timbers ask for different machine work. Soft Victorian pine cuts fast, so the skill lies in restraint — keeping the machine moving, feathering each pass into the last and never letting the drum dwell. Oak strip is the opposite: dense enough to slow the abrasive down, it needs sharper belts changed more often, but it rewards the effort by taking an exceptionally fine surface at the last grit. Teak and other oily hardwoods sit between the two and get a wipe-down before sealing so the finish keys properly. Reading the timber first is much of what four decades in the trade teaches.
